CRITERIA
The proposed academic courses should be relevant for DIGIT’s thematic focus on digitalization, culture and society. We accept both theoretical and methodological courses, workshops and shorter seminars.
To foster greater collaboration between academia and other social actors in research training, we highly recommend the inclusion of at least one partner from the private or public sector in the course program. This could involve one of DIGIT’s formal partners or other relevant actors.
In addition to new courses, workshops and seminars, DIGIT offers support for:
Repeating a prior DIGIT course.
Modifying an already existing course, workshop, or event/seminar from a partner to
increase its relevance to DIGIT
extend its capacity to include DIGIT participants
When proposing a course or workshop, keep in mind that the Research School for Quality and Relevance scheme aims to:
Develop and apply new methods and theoretical approaches
Foster quality development in the scientific training through national and international collaboration
Increase the doctoral degree programmes’ relevance to the labour market
What can we cover
Travel and accommodation expenses: DIGIT covers reasonable travel and accommodation expenses for both national and international guest lecturers and contributors, as well as for participating DIGIT members.
Lunch: We provide lunch throughout the course and one networking dinner for DIGIT members, lecturers, and organizers.
Honorarium for international lecturers: Provided if necessary.
Administrative support: The DIGIT host administration at OsloMet is available to offer support in the planning and execution phases of the course. Assistance can include help to promote the course across institutions, managing registrations, and facilitate the processing of travel reimbursements.
Teaching hours: Note that we do not provide compensation for teaching hours. We do, however, provide a lump sum to the organizing institution for the development of the course, read more below.
Other costs: Are assessed on an individual basis
Financial Support
In addition to covering actual expenses, DIGIT provides a lump sum to the organizing institution for the development of the course, workshop, or seminar. The following are the current guidelines:
A lump sum of 60,000 NOK will be transferred to the unit or department offering the course/event for efforts related to planning and coordinating the development of the new DIGIT course or workshop.
For recurring courses, the lump sum is 45,000 NOK.
For adaptations of already existing courses or workshops and for short events, we only cover the added costs for allowing in DIGIT members (i.e. no lump sum). We assess what qualifies as a short event on a case-by-case basis.
Participant-driven events (for PhD candidates and postdocs in DIGIT)
From 2025: we are now accepting applications from PhD students and postdocs in the research school. Please note that DIGIT members are not eligible for funding to cover the planning and coordination of participant-driven activities. However, we are able to cover other event-related expenses, as outlined above.
What About Study Points?
DIGIT is able to issue a diploma to the participants where we specify the content of the course and the total workload. Participants can then use this diploma to apply for credit approval at their home University. It is up to the home institution if and how many credits they will attain. To qualify for this diploma, students must complete an evaluation, which may be in the form of a written or oral test.
