Lena Leren
Postdoctoral research fellow at the University of South-Eastern Norway
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Optometry, Radiography, and Lighting Design, University of South-Eastern Norway (USN). I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from LDH, a Master’s degree in Clinical Nursing Science from HiO, and a PhD in Person-Centered Healthcare from USN. My postdoctoral research is part of the CoTecH project, which focuses on sustainable digital transformation in healthcare services.
My research explores how digital health solutions can support task shifting and task sharing in healthcare, particularly in optometric practice and digital wound care services. I have previous research experience in wound care, digital wound care and task shifting. By investigating technological, organizational, and cultural factors, I aim to contribute to knowledge that enhances the implementation of digital solutions for more efficient, accessible, and sustainable healthcare services.

This postdoctoral project explores how digital health solutions can support task shifting and task sharing in healthcare services. The project is part of the CoTecH initiative, which aims to enhance sustainable digital transformation in the healthcare sector.
The research consists of two case studies. The first investigates the implementation of digital anamnesis tools in optometric practice, examining facilitators and barriers to task shifting between patients, technology, and healthcare professionals. The second focuses on digital wound care services, analyzing how technology can enable task sharing between home care services and specialized wound clinics.
By identifying technological, organizational, and cultural factors influencing task shifting, the project aims to provide new knowledge on how digital solutions can optimize resource allocation and improve healthcare services. The findings will contribute to strategies for implementing digital tools that enhance efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability in both public and private healthcare.
