Steinar Mathisen currently works at the Department of Primary and Secondary Teacher Education, Oslo Metropolitan University. He has experience as a vocational teacher in the field of Electronics, automation and general electrical education. Steinar does research in Educational Theory, Educational Technology and Education in K-12 context, With a Focus on Collaboration and expansive Learning.

Tell us about your project!

The objective of this project is to examine how a virtual exchange can be implemented in vocational education, how it can contribute to the student’s intercultural competence and what impact the virtual exchange has both on the Norwegian and South-African students. By using an example of VE related to vocational school with collaboration between global North and global South, this project intends to study digital exchange with the objective of intercultural exchange and subject specific competence building in the classroom accessible to more teachers. The research in this project should also contribute to developing a model or a framework that helps virtual exchange to be implemented in vocational education..
