DIGIT in Brussels!

June 12-14, 2023

Over three days in June, a delegation from the Norwegian Research School for Digitization, Culture, and Society (DIGIT) and OsloMet's talent program were introduced to the EU system and funding opportunities in the Horizon Europe program in Brussels.

We had a great time, read more below!

The seminar started with an introduction to the work of the Oslo Region European Office in Brussels by Director Gunnar Selvik, followed by a comprehensive overview of the EU Horizon Europe program by Karin Totland from the Research Council of Norway`s Brussels Office, and the Erasmus+ program by Ragnhild Sølvi Berg from HK-dir's Brussels Office.

On the second day, we visited the European Parliament and the European Commission where we had the opportunity to learn about the impact of digitalization on future work and the labor market, EU policies for people with disabilities and EU's policy on cybersecurity.

The focus was again on funding opportunities on our final day, and Jhansi Kota from the European Research Council (ERC) provided an introduction to their starting grants. Anouk Lafortune from the European Commission discussed the Marie S. Curie initiative and Francisco De la Torre Francia from the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation talked about how to plan for impact in Horizon Europe. The seminar was rounded up by Holly Shorey from the organization COFACE Families Europe, who explained how non-profit organizations and universities can collaborate in research contexts.
